Jazz is a musical genre that emerged in the early 20th century century musical traditions in African American communities in the southern United States from a confluence of African and European. From the beginning of its development to date has included jazz music from the 19th and 20th century American popular culture. [1] The West African pedigree is evident in his use of blue notes, improvisation, polyrhythms, syncopation and the swung note. [2] However, Art Blakey has been quoted as saying, "No America, no jazz. I've seen people try to connect to other countries, such as Africa, but no has not a damn thing to do with Africa "
