Kelly (pronounced / kɛli /) is a first and last name derived from Ireland, England and Scotland. Etymologically, the Irish family name as a surname derived from the O prefix ("grandchild" or "male descendants) and the suffix Ceallach (" disorders "or" complaint "), a former clan Gaelic name , Ó Ceallaigh (anglicisized as "O" Kelly "). [1] One of the most prominent families of that name came from the Kingdom of Uí Maine of Connaught.
